Top Tips To Maintain Your Kitchen Knives
We all know that stainless steel knives are rust free, corrosion resistant and long-lasting, that doesn’t mean that your knives will never get oxidized, scratched and dull. Using the right ways to maintain your kitchen knives will keep them sharp and mirror surface for long.

1. Always cut on a cutting board
Cutting on the marble or other hard surfaces will make your cooking knives becoming dull or have gaps on the blade. You can use wooden, bamboo or plastic cutting board, they are soft enough to protect the blade.

2. Hand washes in warm water every time
Some kitchen knives support washing by a dishwasher, while some do not. Actually, it’s very dangerous to wash in a dishwasher, your cutlery set is easy to become dull, collapse, or even deform.

3. Remove the rust and stain
If your kitchen knife set blades are non-stainless, to remove the stain and rust, simply put them into the rice water for 3 hours, then use raw sweet potato slices to wipe the blades carefully for several times, then wipe off the water with a rag.

4. Keep your knives dry after cleaning and store them in the right ways
Use a tower to wipe the water drops immediately after cleaning the knives. Try to keep them in a dry thick towel or paper. Some people like to put the knives in the sink for a long time, this is wrong. You can also put them into a knife rack, knife block, magnetic knife strip or drawer. Place your cooking knives in an orderly manner, this will prevent scratching each other when you take them out. Keep your knives away from gas cookers because stainless steel knives will produce yellow spots when exposed to carbon monoxide gas.

5. Get the blade coated with cooked edible oil
If you will leave home for a long period, remember to apply a layer of cooked edible oil to the knife blade. That will keep your blade surface smooth and mirror.

6. Sharpen your knives
Every knife goes dull, so what we can do is to sharpen the edge from time to time. You can sharpen with the sharpening stone, stainless steel sharpening stick, or multifunctional sharpener. Follow the instructions, don’t sharpen them in the wrong directions.

To avoid the rust, stain or corrosion troubles, please select stainless steel knives set. Among the stainless steel knives, Damascus knives and high carbon stainless steel knife are highly recommended.
